The Minimal Co.

Longtime friends Kayla and Bianca shared a passion for jewelry and fashion. Together they founded The Minimal Co., crafters of one-of-a-kind, polymer clay earrings. Designed and made in their small studio in Brisbane, Kay and B wanted to bring handmade, hypo-allergenic earrings to young professionals and students to inspire and empower.

I had the pleasure of working with these entrepreneurs to create the branding and identity for their company. After settling on the name, The Minimal Co, promoting the emphasis on clean, minimal design, I started designing their logo and packaging.

Our focuses for the brand:

  • Soft & flirty
  • Young professionals
  • Hand-made with Love
  • Hypo-allergenic

HANDMADE IN AUSTRALIA

Empowering young professionals. Inspiring with design and simplicity.

After choosing our colour palette and sketching rough designs for the logos and packaging, I presented the girls with logo and packaging options which we tested with the physical product and played with colours to ensure appropriate contrast with the range of patterns and colours from the earrings.

Logo

After rough sketches and prototypes, we choose our final logo as a soft, pink and circular shape which emphasises the product is ‘Handmade in Australia’ and uses the letters MC with wings that extend beyond the circle.

Packaging

Packaging was an important part of forming the brand identity. We had two sizes of packaging to accommodate for small stud earrings and larger hanging pieces. Available in two colours, the packaging featured the logo with the wings like hooks for the earrings and encouraged users to connect with the brand on social media.

Style Guide

Overall, our branding was clean and soft, empowering young professionals to embrace their jewelry and feel confident in their appearance to conquer the day! I provided a design guide for Kayla and Bianca to continue upholding the brand standards as their continued forward.

LAUNCH

After a study tour to Japan, also an opportunity to showcase their earrings to the Japanese market and locals, Kayla and Bianca returned to Brisbane to polish their website for launch and social media channels.

In early February, customers were able to purchase online pieces online from their collections such as the Barcelona and Manhatten collection.
